During this class we will explore the history of comic books, different techniques that cartoonists use, and apply these to create a comic book of our own! We will also be using different art mediums to create cartoon panels as well as flip books.

We will be learning about past and present leaders who have made a positive impact in our world. The list of people includes Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jane Goodall, Malala, Desmond Tutu, Bill Gates, Mother Teresa, Abe Lincoln, Nelson Mandela. We will do a variety of hands-on activities reflecting on the works of these people, including a community outreach project that the students will decide on together.

In this class we learn about kinetic energy and how we can use it to make a variety of structures. Some kinetic sculptures are made specifically as art pieces, while some serve very specific mechanical purposes. We will explore both of these, and create several kinetic sculptures/towers/machines based on what we learn.
